I have this itch… that I need to scratch. I have been thinking of posting typography exercises and sketches to revive this tumblr of mine. Lately I have been quite nostalgic about my days at University of the Arts, and more specifically our typography class with John Connolly. I really miss those days right now; Beautiful typography makes my heart skip a beat. Here is a video about one of my other teachers at Uarts, Inge Druckrey, which is one of the culprits for my nostalgic mood. Enjoy!

Before And After of the Day: Missourian Aaron Fuhrman — a self-taught landscape photographer — has been traveling around Joplin, photographing heartrending panoramic shots of the devastation left in the aftermath of Sunday’s tornado.

Fuhrman lined up one of these panoramic photos with a Google Street View screencap of the same intersection to illustrate the comprehension-challenging extent of damage caused by the twister.

An actual “mobile” site is a specific beast, one that needs to be tailored specifically to the tasks and users it serves. A mobile user isn’t just defined by their device, they’re also defined by their context; mobile users are out and about, they aren’t in front of their primary computer — they are literally mobile.

Great post describing the subtle, but important difference between a “mobile” & “small screen” site. Now that I’m in the process of redesigning the 3rdEdge website I have to think about whether we need a “small Screen” or “mobile” version of our website.
